While at the Michigan Legal Help Program (MLH), I worked on a variety of projects but focused on a new technology project. With this project MLH can build the capacity to engage in simple, automated text conversations with users of the Guide to Legal Help on the MLHwebsite. Through these texts, the program can learn more about the outcomes of MLH visitors, and also provide them with additional assistance as needed to finish handling their legal matter. This project also worked to improve the experiences of litigants in courts and with legal aid lawyers to the extent we learn more about them. As it was a new project, I was involved in the development phase - drafting language for the text conversations, user testing, experimenting with building the flow of the texts, etc.
