My fellowship centered around expanding a web-based application process called ImmiHelp (IH) that seeks to support immigrants with a variety of needs to new DACA applications to serve the 1.3 million Dreamers who had previously been barred from applying for DACA.The application process assists with various U.S. immigration documents, including DACArenewals, family green cards, and naturalization services. By screening cases, automating the labor-intensive data-entry and document collection, and building red flags for internal review, IH significantly reduces the time each case takes its legal team. As a result, the program is able to serve multiple times more clients online than it could as a traditional brick-and-mortar nonprofit.
