I was part of the team responsible for preparing, training, implementing, and testing a natural language processing Artificial Intelligence (AI), which was integrated with the legal triage tool on the PTLAwebsite. The triage tool on PTLA.org launched in 2015 and has helped tens of thousands of people find the best legal resources and referrals for their legal issues. The aim of the project was to create a system that allows users to tell PTLA a bit about their problem through the triage tool and have the natural language processing AI tool match their input with the most specific legal issue or category. The project would not only make the triage tool easier to use - but it would also make for a more efficient and effective results, putting the best legal information in front of our users in their time of need.
