I was part of the team responsible for creating a strategic plan to improve services for Self-Represented Litigants in Georgia, with the goal of developing and executing some of the recommendations identified by the National Center for State Courts. One of the key project objectives was to implement an initial patron tracking system to help identify the number of people served, language demographics, case type(s) with a high number of SRL's and outcome resolution. In addition to better identifying community partners and engaging volunteers, the project incorporated the development of website content, a plain language resource explaining the different jurisdictions served by the three courts (Magistrate, State and Superior) within Fulton County's complex, and a plain language glossary of legal terms and plain language instructions for the State Court E-Filing system.
