My fellowship project focused on creating automated documents for commonly used family law court forms in the state of Colorado. The project aimed to reduce the financial burden of divorce, increase access to justice for disenfranchised communities, and improve transparency about process and outcomes for divorces in Colorado. To accomplish this, I gathered information about which forms would be most useful for self-represented individuals in family law cases. I then helped to translate these forms into user-friendly scripts and built them as online fillable forms. In the user testing phase, I also gathered feedback from potential users, subject matter experts, lawyers, and advocates to ensure the forms were effective and user-friendly. Finally, I assisted her team in launching the forms by partnering with nonprofits and Legal Aid Organizations to offer free clinics demonstrating the use of the forms and helping users navigate them.
