As a fellow, I was part of the team responsible for developing useful, accessible legal resources to clients impacted by suspended or revoked driver's licenses in Kansas. The inability to legally drive greatly limits access to work, school and other essential needs, and restoring driver's licenses can dramatically improve the lives of thousands of Kansans across the state. The project goal was to address the financial hardships caused by suspended or revoked driver's licenses in Kansas through providing direct assistance to clients and developing useful, accessible forms for people appealing suspensions and revocations. During my time I created step-by-step instructions for individuals using free legal forms that are posted on KLS's website for reinstating drivers' licenses. I also conducted outreach with courts to promote the project and assisted in coordinating "license reinstatement" community events with pro bono attorneys to advise clients.
